TOWSON, MD -- The University of Delaware women’s tennis team won five of six singles matches and all three doubles matches as the Blue Hens defeated Towson, 6-1, in Colonial Athletic Association action Friday afternoon.

Delaware snapped a four-match losing streak as the Blue Hens improved to 5-6 overall and 1-2 in the conference, while the Tigers dropped to 11-9 overall and are also 1-2 in the league.

Susan Pollack (right) defeated Bogumila Patzer 7-6 (2), 6-2 at No. 1 singles for Delaware, while Amanda Campbell posted a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Eva Otanke at No. 2. Sari Shuster recorded a 7-5, 0-6, 6-3 win over Jessica Woolfolk at No. 4 as she improved her career record to 43-29 and moved into a tie for ninth place on the school’s career singles wins list.

Alexa Dragonette topped Amanda Scatuorchio 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 for the Blue Hens, while Brittany Barsky improved to 13-3 on the year with an identical 6-0, 6-1 victory over Lindsey Purcell at No. 6. Evelyn Izaguirre was the lone winner for Towson as she posted a 6-4, 6-0 win over Liz Perlow at No. 3.

Pollack and Campbell shut out Patzer and Izaguirre, 8-0, at No. 1 doubles as they improved to 17-5 on the season and moved into a tie for second place on the Delaware single-season doubles wins chart. Dragonette and Barsky defeated Woolfolk and Scatuorchio, 8-2, at No. 2, while Shuster and Julie Schiller blanked Otanke and Chiemi Okamoto, 8-0, at No. 3.

The Blue Hens return to action on Sunday when Delaware travels to Fairfax, VA to take on George Mason at 12 noon.
