NEWARK, DE: The University of Delaware women’s tennis team dropped its fourth straight match with a narrow 4-3 defeat to James Madison University in a Colonial Athletic Association match played at the Delaware Field House courts Sunday morning.
The Blue Hens picked up singles wins from Elena Berry (right), Alexa Dragonette, and Brittany Barsky. Berry defeated Mary Napier 6-2, 6-1 in her No. 1 singles debut for the Blue Hens, who dropped to 4-9 overall and 0-3 in conference play. Dragonette topped Briana Jain 6-4, 6-4 at No. 4 singles for Delaware, as she posted her team-leading 15th win of the season. Barsky cruised to a 6-1, 6-3 win over Lauren Graham at No. 5.
Anna Khoor defeated Amanda Campbell 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 singles for the Dukes, while Rebecca Erickson recorded a 6-4, 6-2 win over Liz Perlow at No. 3. Kelly Maxwell defeated Laura Honig 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 for James Madison.
Napier and Khoor teamed up to defeat Berry and Campbell, 9-8, in a thrilling match at No. 1 doubles, while Erickson and Jain downed Dragonette and Schillier 8-1 at No. 2. Completing the doubles sweep was the duo of Graham and Maxwell who downed Perlow and Barsky 8-6 at No. 3.
Delaware will travel to Lafayette tomorrow to take on the Leopards at 3 p.m.
