NEWARK, DE -- The University of Delaware women’s tennis team fell to Villanova Tuesday, 5-2, at the Delaware Field House tennis courts.

Delaware, which defeated Saint Joseph’s in its first match, falls to 1-1 while the Wildcats, who lost to Saint Joseph’s in their first match, improves to 1-1 on the year.

Susan Pollack (right) and Amanda Campbell continued their winning ways posting an 8-4 win over Candice Carlin and Carla Erskine at No. 1 doubles to improve to 8-0 this season.

The Blue Hens clinched the double points with wins from Alexa Dragonette and Julie Schiller, who won 8-6 over Leigh Ann Reilly and Jackie Williamson, and Sari Shuster and Brittany Barsky, who recorded an 8-4 win over Courtney Reed and Colleen Walter.

Pollack was the lone singles victory for the Hens though as she improved to 8-0 on the season. She is the only undefeated player remaining for Delaware with a combined singles and doubles record of 16-0 on the season.

The junior posted a 6-4, 7-5 win over Carlin at No. 1 singles and is now 10th all-time at Delaware with 44 singles victories in her career to go along with only 16 losses.

The Blue Hens had won the previous two meetings between the schools and are now 12-11 all-time against Villanova.

Delaware returns to action next Saturday when it travels to Georgetown for a 12 noon start time.
