NORFOLK, Va. -- Third-seeded William & Mary defeated the No. 6-seeded University of Delaware women’s tennis team 4-0 in Colonial Athletic Association quarterfinal play Frdiay afternoon at Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center on the campus of Old Dominion University.
William & Mary captured the doubles point against Delaware despite defaulting at the number three slot to senior Amanda Campbell (at right) and freshman Jo Jo Gruber.
The Tribe’s Katarina Zoricic and Ragini Acharya posted an 8-4 win over Elena Berry and Jo Jo Gruber at number one and W&M’s Klaudyna Kasztelaniec and Carmen Pop beat sophomore Ivana Petrich and freshman Samantha Carnall, 8-3, at number two.
The Tribe closed the match out with victories at the top three spots in singles. Zoricic defeated Berry, 6-4, 6-0, at number one, Acharya downed Megan Doran, 6-0, 6-1 at number two and Kasztelaniec ended the match with a 6-3, 6-4 triumph over Petrich at number three.
