PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - University of Delaware women’s tennis team members Elena Berry (at right) and Jo Jo Gruber competed in the ITA Northeast Regional Championships on Saturday afternoon.
Early in the day, Berry and Gruber teamed up to win their first round doubles match over Stony Brook’s Rodolsi and Pieschl by a score of 9-8, 7-3. They would then be eliminated in the second round when they fell to Princeton’s Sanotz and Mettole, 8-2.
Berry and Gruber finished the fall season with a team record of 10-4 in doubles play. Individually, Berry finished 13-4 in doubles play and Gruber finished 12-5.
In singles action, Elena Berry won her first round match 6-3, 6-4 over Manhattan’s Keeler. She will play her round two match tomorrow morning.
With the win, Berry improved to 12-2 for the fall season.
