WILMINGTON, N.C. -- Senior Amanda Campbell and sophomore Megan Doran’s (at right) win at No. 3 doubles earned the University of Delaware the fourth and decisive doubles point as the Blue Hens bounced back from thier first loss of the season on Wed. to beat Colonial Athletic Association foe James Madison, 4-3 in CAA Round Robin action Friday night at the UNCW Tennis Complex.

The Blue Hens improved to 10-1 (2-1 CAA) and the Dukes fell to 7-7 (2-2 CAA) for the season.

With the score tied 3-3 after singles play, junior Elena Berry and freshman Jo Jo Gruber defeated Rebecca Erickson and Leah DeMasters, 8-6 at No. 1 doubles. Freshman Samantha Carnall and sophomore Ivana Petrich could not finish off the Dukes at No. 2 singles as they fell 8-6 at No. 2 doubles, and so the match came down to the No. 3 doubles match.

Campbell and Doran came through with an 8-6 victory over Anna Khoor and Kelly Maxwell as the Blue Hens took two out of three doubles matches to earn the fourth and decisive point of the match.

After Berry dropped a tough 6-3, 7-6 (7-2) decision to Kinsey Pate at No. 1 singles, Doran defeated Erickson 7-5, 6-0 at No. 2 singles which began a 3-0 run for Delaware. Doran improved to 17-5 on the season.

Following Doran, Petrich and Gruber won at No. 3 and 4 singles, respectively. Petrich took care of Kristin Nimitz 6-3, 6-3, but Gruber had to battle for a 4-6, 7-6, (7-2), 6-3 win over Khoor.

JMU picked up two exended match wins at No. 5 and 6 singles as Leah DeMasters defeated Campbell 7-5, 6-7 (3-7), 10-4 and Maxwell defeated Carnall 2-6, 6-4, 10-4.
