VILLANOVA, Pa. -- The University of Delaware women’s tennis team swept a dual meet against Villanova Saturday afternoon on the road.

Junior Elena Berry improved to 9-2 on the year in first singles play when she came back to defeat Courtney Reed 3-6, 6-3, 10-7. This was her 39th career singles win. Sophomore Megan Doran (at right) also improved to 9-2 in second singles as she had no trouble on the day, beating Allison Solberg 6-4, 6-1.

Sophomore Ivana Petrich picked up her tenth win of the season when she defeated Lyndsey Lostritto 6-1, 6-0 in the no. 3 singles spot. Freshman Lauren Gruber won at no. 4 singles with a 6-3, 6-3 decision over Emily Urda. This was her ninth win of the season.

Senior Amanda Campbell picked up her 50th career win, defeating Allie Harding 6-2, 6-0 at no. 5 singles and improved to 8-1 on the year.

Freshman Samantha Carnall added the final singles win at no. 6 by defeating Elizabeth Spelman 6-2, 6-0. She improved to 7-2 on the year.

In exhibition singles play, Kristen Mueller defeated Kate Monari 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles action, Berry and Gruber improved to 7-2 on the year as they defeated Soldberg and Jackie Williamson 9-8 and 7-5 in the tiebreak. Petrich and Carnall also won their no. 2 doubles match against Reed and Michele Jordan 8-2. They are now 7-3 on the year.

Doran and Campbell won the final doubles match 8-1 over Reppert and Borden. They improved to 11-1 on the year, and Campbell moved past Alexa Dragonette (2004-2008) for sole possession of second in school history for career (individual) doubles wins with 61.
