COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The University of Delaware women’s tennis team fell to host University of Maryland, 5-2, on Tuesday afternoon at The Tennis Center at College Park. The match was rescheduled from Feb. 7 due to inclement weather.
Delaware (4-1 overall) tallied victories at the No. 1 and No. 4 singles, though Maryland (2-3 overall) was too much for the Blue Hens as it gathered the doubles point with a 3-0 doubles sweep.
Junior Megan Doran won a hard-fought No. 1 singles match against Terps’ senior Lisa Miller, 1-6, 6-0, 7-6 (7-2), while at No. 4 singles, Blue Hen sophomore Samantha Carnall defeated UMD’s freshman Lexi Brand in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1.
The Hens return to the court on Friday, March 12 at UMBC for a 2 p.m. start.
