2010 (Elon University): Competed for the two-time Southern Conference champions • played in 18 games, starting six games • batted .211 in 19 at-bats • three of his four hits went for extra bases, including two doubles and a home run • knocked in five RBI and scored five runs • ended sophomore season with a .474 slugging percentage and a .429 on-base percentage with seven walks.
High School: Two-sport athlete at Stepinac High School, competing in baseball and basketball • team was three-time Division champions under head coach Pat Duffy • named first team All-City as a junior and senior.
Personal: Alexander Carlos Maruri ("muh-roari") • son of Victor Maruri and Silvina Betzer • youngest of four children • brother, Jonathan, also played college baseball • born in London, England but Spanish was his first language • political science major with a pre-law minor at Delaware.
