2010: Had a team high three saves in 20 appearances, all out of the bullpen for the Blue Hens • ended with a 3-0 record in 46.2 innings pitched as a sophomore • third on the team in strikeouts with 39 • earned his first save of his career on Feb. 27 in the first game of a doubleheaders against Maryland by pitching the final three innings of shutout ball in the Blue Hens 17-3 win • picked up his first win of the season against Manhattan on March 6 while pitching 3.2 innings of relief, giving up three hits and no earned runs in the 15-9 Blue Hen victory • matched a career high six strikeouts against Canisius on April 2 in 3.1 innings • pitched three innings, striking out five against Saint Joseph's on April 14, holding the score at 8-8 going into the bottom of the ninth where the Blue Hens scored the game-winner.
2009: Appeared in 11 games with four starts during his freshman campaign • tied with Rich O’Donald for most appearances by a freshmen during the season • went 2-2 with a 5.33 ERA and 25 strikeouts in 25.1 innings of work • made his first career start against Maryland on March 10 • tossed three shutout innings against Wilmington on March 17 and two spotless frames against Maryland on May 12 • earned his first win against Saint Joseph’s on April 7 which clinched a spot for Delaware in the Liberty Bell Classic finals • tossed five strong innings with a season-high six strikeouts against the Hawks • earned his second win with 1.2 innings of relief in a 12-5 victory over Rutgers on April 28 • made his first conference appearance against Georgia State on April 4.
High School: Three-year letterwinner in baseball at Indian Valley High School • earned first team All-Mountain League honors in 2008 as a pitcher and first baseman • also named first team All-League as a designated hitter during his sophomore season • received two letters as a starting defender in soccer as well • selected as a Tri-Valley Scholar-Athlete.
Personal: Devon James Pearson • son of Thomas and Joanne Pearson • has an older brother • studying health behavior science at Delaware with a minor in strength and conditioning and coaching science • worked as a physical therapy technician over the summer.
