At Delaware: Will be will a weekend starter on the mound for the Blue Hens • second-year member of the squad as a righthanded pitcher • one of two American River College products on the squad, joining senior catcher Aaron Mascoe.
2010: Started the most games on the year for the Blue Hens, appearing in 18 contests overall with 10 starts • registered a record of 1-7 with a 6.71 ERA • threw 60.1 innings, striking out 45 batters • earned his first win as a Blue Hen on March 19, pitching six innings, giving up two earned runs while striking out four batters en route to a 9-4 victory • had a career-high seven strikeouts in the season-opener vs. Kansas State through five innings on the mound • struck out six batters in the finals of the Liberty Bell Classic in Citizens Bank Park against Lehigh on April 20, earning a no decision in the team's 10-7 victory.
2009 (American River College): Competed in only season as a sophomore at American River Junior College in Sacramento, Calif. • appeared in eight games with four starts at American River • fired 27.2 innings on the mound while posting a 5.53 ERA • earned Academic All-Conference honors • only pitcher on the staff to fire a complete game and pick up a save during the season.
2008 (UC San Diego): Appeared in seven games with two starts for NCAA Division II UC San Diego, helping to lead the Tritons to a 43-18 record and a berth in the NCAA Division II West Regionals • pitched 8.2 innings and recorded seven strikeouts • had no decisions and a 6.23 ERA.
High School: Exceptional pitcher at Granite Bay High School • received first-team All-Metro honors in 2005 and 2006 • earned Puma Preseason All-American honors entering his senior season • led Granite Bay to the Metro Conference championship before falling in secionals • also was a center on the basketball team • earned second team All-Conference honors in 2005 and 2006.
Personal: Nick Andrew Young • son of Nick and Claire Young • has a younger brother • his cousin, Jacob Hickman, was an offensive lineman at Nebraska from 2005-09 • enjoys playing wiffle ball and golf • honor student as a finance major at Delaware.
