2011: Appeared in 12 games with nine starts during his first season with the Blue Hens • tied for the team-lead with 46 strikeouts during just 49.1 innings of work • made an outstanding first impression during his debut against UNC Greensboro on February 20 • held the Spartans scoreless while scattering just two hits and striking out three over four excellent innings of relief • made his first start of the year during the series finale with No. 9 Arizona State on February 27 • briefly returned to the bullpen with 1.2 innings of work against Wilmington before joining the conference rotation in March • started his first CAA game against George Mason on March 13 • earned his first career victory after tossing seven shutout innings against Hofstra on March 20 • scattered just four hits while striking out seven against the Pride • named the Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week for his performance against Hofstra • followed up that effort with another strong outing after allowing just two runs on four hits in 5.1 innings of work against William & Mary on March 26 • continued to show outstanding strikeout potential with at least five whiffs in each of the next three contests • wrapped up that stretch with six strikeouts over six strong innings of work against Towson on April 17 • limited the opposition to just 40 hits in league action, which was the fifth-lowest total in the CAA • matched his season-high with seven strikeouts in his final appearance during a non-conference bout with Temple on May 11 • teamed with fellow Blue Hen Eric Buckland to lead the Youse’s Maryland Orioles to their 28th All-American Amateur Baseball Association Championship over the summer • starred on the mound for the Orioles and earned the league’s Pitcher of the Week Award on July 16 following a seven-strikeout performance against Bethesda.
