At Delaware: First-year member of the Blue Hen squad after transfer from defending FBS national champion Auburn University…linebacker who will battle for playing time and assist on special teams in 2011…first-ever Auburn transfer at Delaware.

At Auburn:

2010 Season: Appeared in six games as a true freshman at Auburn for head coach Gene Chizik as Tigers went 13-0 and captured the national title with a 22-19 victory over Oregon…recorded nine tackles for the season, including four stops in the season opener vs. Arkansas State…had three tackles vs. Ole Miss and one against Clemson…did not play in national title game,

High School: Enjoyed an outstanding career at Buford High School for head coach Jess Simpson…led Buford to a third straight Class AA state championship as a senior, scoring both touchdowns in a 13-10 victory in the state title game…rushed for more than 700 yards and 17 touchdowns as a fullback in 2009 ..collected more than 100 tackles from his middle linebacker position with five interceptions…named the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Class AA Defensive Player of the Year…rated as the nation's No. 23 middle linebacker by Scout.com, and the No. 43 outside linebacker by Rivals.com…ESPN/Scouts Inc. rates him as the No. 11 fullback in the country...as a junior in 2008, had 109 tackles, including five for loss in 15 games while helping Buford to a state championship….also rushed for 403 yards and 11 touchdowns on 73 attempts…caught 21 passes for 332 yards and two scores…Buford won state championship during his sophomore year.

Personal: Jessel Tyler Curry…born Feb. 7, 1992…son of Buddy and Dawn Curry…father, Buddy, played at North Carolina and was a two-time All-Pro and 1980 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year for the Atlanta Falcons…one of four children...brother, Justin, played football at NCAA Division II Valdosta State...has not declared a major at Delaware but has an interest in hotel management...plays the guitar...also enjoys soccer and volleyball and cooking.
