• 2011 Delaware Season Statistics

At Delaware: Fourth-year member of the squad who has greatly improved over the last few seasons, turning himself into a consistent player...one of nine offensive linemen returning who has game experience (four games played)...part of an offensive line that returns four starters and is considered one of the top units in the country…adds experience and depth at both tackle and guard positions and enters season No. 3 on the depth chart at right guard behind returning starter Will Nagle and top backup Nick Cattolico...one of the most humorous members of the offensive line group.

2010 Season: Appeared in three games...made first appearance of the season in the opener vs. West Chester and also saw action against Duquesne and Towson...key reserve who helped protect All-American quarterback Pat Devlin and create holes for CAA Rookie of the Year running back Andrew Pierce...team ranked No. 2 in the CAA in total offense (401.8 yards per game), rushing offense (184.4 yards per game), and scoring offense (27.9 points per game)...team went 12-3 and advanced to the FCS national title game under head coach K.C. Keeler.

2009 Season: Developed into a solid reserve at both guard and tackle in an offense that was No. 2 in the CAA in passing and No. 5 in total offensive with 243.4 yards per game and 355.0 yards per game, respectively…saw first career game action in the season opener vs. West Chester…missed a majority of the season due to injury…team went 6-5 under Keeler.

2008 Season: Did not see action in his first year at Delaware and retained freshman eligibility...team went 4-8.

High School: Played first two years at Owen J. Roberts High School in Pottstown, Pa., and then the remaining two at Shawnee High School in Medford, N.J...played offensive guard for coach Tim Gushue...led Shawnee to 2007 Group 3 South Jersey State Championship...Associated Press second team All-State...first team All South Jersey...first team All Group 3...first team All-Burlington County...first team all-conference...New Jersey Super Prep 100 Team...played in 2008 New York vs. New Jersey All Star Classic...honor student.

Personal: Charles James Gushue ("guh-shoe")...born January 13, 1990 in Newark, Del....son of James and Sally Gushue...civil engineering major at Delaware...has one sister...enjoys playing golf, basketball, and going to the beach in his spare time...has worked as a golf caddie during the summer.
