NEWARK, Del. -- University of Delaware senior cornerback Anthony Walters will participate in The NFLPA Game: Texas vs. The Nation on Saturday in the Alamodome. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. Eastern and will be televised live by CBS College Sports.
The contest, in its fifth year of existence, pits top collegiate players originally from Texas or who play college football in Texas against top players from around the nation.
Walters (Cardinal O’Hara/Philadelphia, Pa.) enjoyed an outstanding senior season for Delaware as he was named third team Associated Press All-American, fourth team Phil Steele College Football All-American, and College Sporting News All-American. A second team All-Colonial Athletic Association pick, Walters led the team and ranked among the national leaders with seven interceptions for 138 yards despite missing two games due to injury.
Walters picked off two passes each against West Chester and Lehigh, while adding one versus Towson, Villanova and Eastern Washington. He also ranked seventh on the squad with 75 tackles (team-high 60 solo) while registering three tackles for loss, eighth pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.
This year marks the second straight season a Blue Hen will compete in the game, as defensive lineman Brandon Gilbeaux participated in last year’s contest.
