University of Delaware Crowns 2011 Intramural Flag Football Champions

NEWARK, Del. -- The University of Delaware crowned its newest group of Flag Football league champions recently as five championship game were held under the lights at Tubby Raymond Field at Delaware Stadium on Oct. 26.
In the opening game of the night, Georgia and the Readerites (below) defeated No Punt Intended 12-0 in the Co-Ed White League. Sean Murphy was named the game Most Valuable Player after catching two touchdown passes and picking off an interception.

In the Men’s White League, the Mighty Ducks (below) defeated L.I.G.A.F by a narrow 25-20 margin behind the play of Most Valuable Player Drew Hall who threw four touchdown passes and also picked off a pass.

Backed by Most Valuable Player John Boone, HPL (below) stormed paste Thompson 2 by a 44-17 margin to capture the Co-Ed Blue League title. Boone hauled in three touchdowns receptions and also picked off a pass to lead the way.

The Men’s Gold League title was decided by a shutout as Stinky (below) defeated WMC by a 20-0 margin. Stinky’s Justin Kirk was named the Most Valuable Player as he caught three passes and paced the defense with four interceptions.

The final game of the night proved to be the most suspenseful as Casey’s Kids (below), made up mostly of former Blue Hen varsity football players, needed an overtime period to get by Speed Kills, a unit comprised of several members of the track & field team, by a tight 28-27 margin. Casey’s Kids pulled out the victory when Speed Kills missed an extra point. Most Valuable Player Phil Thaxton of Casey’s Kids was declared the Most Valuable Player as he returned an interception on defense to highlight the effort.
