NEWARK, Del. - Blue Hen football fans are invited to join University of Delaware head coach K.C. Keeler (at right) and his wife, Janice, when the couple once again hosts a wine and dinner benefit event on Tuesday, June 5, at Caffé Gelato Restaurant on Main Street.
This annual event gives Delaware fans the chance to enjoy a great meal, sample Fenwick Wine Cellars wines, and help out a great cause.
Reservations are just $59 per person, which includes a $22 tax deductible donation that benefits The Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware. To reserve a spot, call 302-738-5811 or go online to www.caffegelato.net.
Keeler concluded yet another outstanding season at the helm of the University of Delaware football squad this past fall - his 10th as head coach - as the Blue Hens went 7-4 and narrowly missed out on a second straight trip to the NCAA Tournament.
Along the way the Hens knocked off two Top 10 teams, including eventual Colonial Athletic Association champion Towson, and finished the year with a No. 17 national ranking. Two members of the team earned All-American honors, including Baltimore Ravens draft pick Gino Gradkowski, and 12 earned all-league honors.
In 2010, Keeler led the Blue Hens to a share of the CAA title and a berth in the NCAA Division I national championship game. He was selected as the American Football Coaches Association National Coach of the Year while also earning Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year honors for outstanding success and community service. A portion of Keeler’s award from Liberty Mutual included a contribution to several local charities, including the Boys and Girls Clubs.
Delaware will begin pre-season camp this coming August in preparation for the 2012 season opener Aug. 30 at home vs. West Chester. Information on season and individual game tickets is available online at www.bluehens.com/tickets.
