LITTLE RIVER, S.C. –Former University of Delaware golfer Joe McLister captured the opening event of the Carolina Winter Series on the NGA Hooters Tour with a commanding nine-shot victory at the River Hills Golf and Country Club earlier this week.
McLister, a 2007 Blue Hen graduate, carded a 68-65-70 to finish with a 13 under par score of 203 and earn his first NGA/Hooters Tour victory. He easily defeated the 49-player field, as Nemanja Savic finished second with a four under par 212.
McLister posted five birdies and just one bogey during his four under par opening round 68, while he added five birdies and an eagle on the seventh hole during his second round of 65, seven under par. McLister cemented his wire-to-wire victory with five more birdies during his final round of 70, two under par.
McLister, a first team All-Colonial Athletic Association selection in 2006, is one of the top players in Delaware golf history. His 74.66 career average round is the second lowest in school history, while he posted the lowest average round on the Blue Hens during all four of his seasons. His 72.85 round average in 2005-06 and his 73.69 average in 2006-07 still rank second and third, respectively, in UD history.Back To Golf Home Golf Story Archive
