University of Delaware Golfers in 10th Place Following Second Day of ODU Outer Banks Invitational

POWELLS POINT, N.C. -- The University of Delaware golf team recorded a 299 team score on Monday and sits in 10th place out of 18 teams following the second day of the three-day ODU Outer Banks Collegiate Invitational.

East Carolina leads the team standings with a 552 score, while Liberty is 16 shots behind at 568. Richmond and Louisville are tied for third at 570, while William & Mary rounds out the top five at 576. Furman is sixth at 577, Elon and James Madison are tied for seventh at 581, Radford is ninth at 583, and the Blue Hens are 10th at 588.

Blue Hen senior Kevin McLister carded a two over par 74 on Monday on the par 72, 6,535-yard course at Kilmaric Golf Club and is tied for 15th place in the individual standings with a one under par 69-74-143.

Fellow senior Justin Martinson, who was tied with McLister following Sunday’s opening round, shot a four over par 76 on Monday and is tied for 27th place with a one over par 69-76-145.

UD junior Greg Matthias (at right) had the best day by a Blue Hen by shooting a one over par 73, while his two-round four over par score of 75-73-148 puts him in a tie for 46th place. Classmate Stephen Scialo carded a four over par 76 for the second consecutive day and is tied for 67th place with an eight over par 76-76-152.

Junior Bobby Arthur carded a five over par 77 during Monday’s round and is tied for 82nd place at 79-77-156, 12 over par.

Harold Varner of East Carolina leads the individual standings with a 13 under par 65-66-131, three shots ahead of Matthew Broome of Furman who sits at 10 under par with a 66-68-134.

The Blue Hens wrap up their 2010 fall season on Tuesday during the third and final round of the ODU Outer Banks Collegiate Invitational.
