High School: Played at Douglas Freeman High School in Richmond • earned first team All-Metro honors as a senior, becoming first player from Freeman to earn the honor in 23 years • also garnered first team All-Colonial District accolades while averaging 17 points and 7.1 rebounds per game in 2008-09 • earned second team All-District honors while averaging 15.8 points, seven rebounds, and three assists as a junior • guided his Petersburg Elite AAU team to a top-16 national ranking • scored 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting in the Virginia High School Coaches Association All-Star Game • was teammates on the VHSCA West roster with current teammate Jamelle Hagins • also scored 19 points in the 804 All-Star Game and completed in the dunk contest during the pregame festivities.
