High School: Four-year starter on the Newark (Ill.) High School basketball team • led the squad to a 33-1 record and the 2011 state championship as a senior • scored 17 points during the semifinal win and posted 11 points, nine steals and four assists during the championship game • the Noresemen increased their win total during each of his four years, and went a combined 84-12 during his final three seasons • led Newark to the Super Sectional round of the IHSA Class 1A state tournament as a sophomore and junior • first team Class 1A All-State selection as a junior and senior • unanimous All-Conference honoree during all four years • was a Thanksgiving All-Tournament Team pick during all four seasons, and a Christmas All-Tournament Team selection during his final three years • averaged 20.8 points per game as a junior and 19.9 points as a senior • finished his career with a school record 2,279 points • honor roll student during all four years of high school.
