Delaware opened the season with a pair of losses but has since reeled off wins over Howard, Lafayette, Old Dominion, Hampton and Delaware State to move into the poll for the first time. The Blue Hens, whose winning streak is the longest since 2001, are receiving 10 votes in this week’s poll.

Four Colonial Athletic Association teams are ranked in the top 25: Old Dominion at No. 2, George Mason at No. 6, VCU at No. 9, and Drexel at No. 15. The Blue Hens are one of three conference teams receiving votes, along with James Madison and UNC Wilmington.

Cleveland State, which is 10-0 on the season, remained in the top spot by garnering 770 points and 27 of the 31 first place votes.

The Blue Hens faced an eight-point deficit at Hampton last Wednesday and an 11-point deficit to Delaware State on Saturday, each in the second half, before coming back to win both games. Delaware currently ranks 12th in Division I by limiting its opponents to a 26.0 three-point percentage and 24th by holding foes to a 37.3 overall field goal percentage.

Jawan Carter (at right) leads the Blue Hens with 16.0 points per game and is 10th in the nation with 3.4 three-pointers made per game, while Jamelle Hagins is grabbing a team-high 7.9 rebounds per game to go with his 3.6 blocks per contest, which ranks him fourth in the country.

The Mid-Major Poll is made up of teams from the following conferences: America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Great West, Horizon, Independents, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt, and West Coast.

Delaware returns to action on Saturday when the Blue Hens take on 10th-ranked Villanova at 7:30 p.m. at the Wells Fargo Center.
