RICHMOND, Va. -- Following two more impressive performances that included another pair of double-doubles, University of Delaware junior forward Jamelle Hagins was named the Colonial Athletic Association Men’s Basketball Co-Player of the Week on Monday.

Hagins averaged 15.5 points, 15.0 rebounds, and 3.5 blocks during the Blue Hens’ two games last week, shooting 68.4 percent (13 of 19) from the floor and hitting six of his seven free throw attempts. He has now recorded double-doubles in five straight games, the first Blue Hen to accomplish that feat since Harding Nana in the 2005-06 season.

Hagins scored 10 points and grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds during the 69-60 loss at Penn last Wednesday, going 4 of 7 from the field and adding a pair of blocked shots. He then produced a monster game during Saturday’s 58-42 win at Delaware State, reaching career-highs with 21 points and 19 rebounds. Hagins went 9 of 12 from the field and blocked five shots while also adding a pair of emphatic dunks as he controlled the paint against the Hornets.

Hagins has started all eight games this season for Delaware (4-4), averaging a double-double with 14.6 points and 11.5 rebounds per game while also leading the squad with 20 blocked shots. He currently leads the conference with 11.5 rebounds and 8.9 defensive rebounds per game, and is second with both 2.5 blocks per contest and a 60.9 field goal percentage. Hagins’ 14.6 scoring average puts him eighth in the league.

Hagins has also made his mark among the national leaders, ranking tied for fifth in rebounds per game and tied for 11th with his five double-doubles. He also is 23rd nationally in field goal percentage and 32nd in blocked shots per game.

The award is the first CAA Player of the Week honor for Hagins, who shared honors with Keith Rendleman of UNCW. Quincy Ford of Northeastern was tabbed the CAA Rookie of the Week.

Hagins and the Blue Hens are off this week due to final exams, and return to the court next Monday to host La Salle at 7 p.m.
