Delaware Freshman Devon Saddler Earns Fourth Consecutive CAA Rookie of the Week Honor

RICHMOND, Va. -- University of Delaware freshman guard Devon Saddler went 4 for 4 in CAA Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week honors during the month of February.
Saddler, who was named the league’s Rookie of the Week on February 7 and 14 before earning Co-Rookie of the Week honors on February 21, was again named the CAA Rookie of the Week on Monday.
Saddler was also named the conference Co-Rookie of the Week on January 21, and he five league weekly honors are a new school single season record.
Saddler scored 20 points during the Blue Hens’ 80-70 victory over Towson on Wednesday, going 9 of 15 from the field while adding seven rebounds. He contributed 17 points Saturday at Hofstra, his 12th consecutive double figure scoring game, and tied his season-high with a team-leading eight rebounds. Saddler shot 15 of 27 from the field for the week, a 55.6 shooting percentage.
Saddler has started all 29 games during his freshman campaign, leading the squad with 83 assists while ranking second with 13.4 points per game. He has reached double figures in 16 of the last 17 contests and eclipsed the 20-point mark during four of the Blue Hens’ final seven games of the regular season.
Saddler is currently ranked 10th in the league with 33.2 minutes played per game, 12th with a 47.6 field goal percentage, 13th with 2.9 assists per game, and 15th with 13.4 points per game.
Saddler and the seventh-seeded Blue Hens will take on Northeastern on Friday at 6 p.m. in the first round of the CAA Tournament at the Richmond Coliseum. The winner of that game will face second-seeded Old Dominion on Saturday at 6 p.m.
