Delaware Travels To Rider on February 19 as Part of BracketBusters

NEWARK, Del. -- The University of Delaware men’s basketball team will travel to Rider University on Saturday, February 19 as part of BracketBusters, it was announced Monday. A game time has not been set at this point.
The contest will be Delaware’s sixth in the event, which began in 2003 and this season features 114 teams from 15 conferences. Eleven of the 57 games will be televised on the ESPN networks on February 18-20, while the remaining games will be held on February 19. The Delaware-Rider game will not be televised.
The Blue Hens, currently 11-10 overall and 6-5 in the Colonial Athletic Association, are led by senior guard Jawan Carter (at right), who leads the team and ranks seventh in the league with 15.3 points per game. Freshman Devon Saddler ranks second on the team with 10.8 points per game while sophomore Jamelle Hagins is averaging 8.6 points, a team-high 7.4 rebounds and 3.3 blocks, which ranks seventh in Division I.
Rider is currently 15-8 overall and tied for third place in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference with a 7-4 league mark. The Broncs are 0-2 against CAA teams this season, falling at home to Hofstra, 58-48, and dropping a 71-67 decision at Drexel.
Justin Robinson leads Rider by averaging 15.9 points per game and has connected on 62 of 141 three-point attempts, while Novar Gadson is averaging 12.8 points per contest. Mike Ringgold ranks third on the squad with 12.7 points per game, while Danny Stewart is grabbing a team-high 7.0 rebounds per outing.
Delaware leads the all-time series with Rider, 31-29, although the Broncs have won six of the last seven meetings including three straight. The Blue Hens and Broncs were conference rivals from 1974 through 1991, when they were both members of the East Coast Conference.
