University of Delaware Announces 2011-12 Men’s Basketball Schedule

2011-12 Men's Basketball Schedule
NEWARK, Del. -- The University of Delaware announced its 2011-12 men’s basketball schedule on Wednesday featuring 14 home games including non-conference contests against La Salle and Temple.
Delaware opens its slate on Friday, Nov. 11 with a road game at Radford, and a week later UD travels to The Pavilion on Friday, Nov. 18 to take on Big East opponent Villanova.
The Blue Hens will play their home opener on Tuesday, Nov. 22 when they welcome Cornell to the Bob Carpenter Center, and remain home on Saturday, Nov. 26 to face long-time East Coast Conference rival Lafayette.
Delaware heads north for the first of two trips to Boston on Wednesday, Nov. 30 to face Boston University in a return game from an ESPNU BracketBusters contest in Newark in February, 2010. The Blue Hens will then open their Colonial Athletic Association schedule on Saturday, Dec. 3 by hosting long-time rival Drexel at the Carpenter Center.
Delaware heads to The Palestra to take on Penn on Wednesday, Dec. 7, before renewing the Route 1 Rivalry with Delaware State on Saturday, Dec. 10 in Dover.
UD returns home to host La Salle on Monday, Dec. 19, the Explorers’ first trip to Newark since November, 2001. Following a road game at Howard on Thursday, Dec. 22, the Blue Hens close out the calendar year by hosting Temple for the second time in three seasons on Friday, Dec. 30.
Delaware returns to conference action on Monday, Jan. 2 at UNC Wilmington, before hosting Hofstra on Wednesday, Jan. 4. Following a road game at William & Mary on Saturday, Jan. 7 the Blue Hens return home for a challenging week, hosting Old Dominion on Wednesday, Jan. 11 and 2011 Final Four participant VCU on Saturday, Jan. 14.
UD then heads to regular season defending champion George Mason on Wednesday, Jan. 18, before welcoming Georgia State to the BCC on Saturday, Jan. 21 and Towson on Monday, Jan. 23.
The Blue Hens are on the road the following week, heading to Northeastern on Wednesday, Jan. 25 and to Drexel on Saturday, Jan. 28. Delaware then hosts George Mason on Wednesday, Feb. 1 before travelling to James Madison on Saturday, Feb. 4.
UD returns home to host UNC Wilmington on Wednesday, Feb. 8 before two consecutive road games, at Georgia State on Saturday, Feb. 11 and at Hofstra on Tuesday, Feb. 14. Delaware hosts an ESPNU BracketBusters game on Saturday, Feb. 18, and following a road game at Towson on Wednesday, Feb. 22, closes out the regular season with a home contest versus Northeastern on Saturday, Feb. 25.
The CAA Tournament will again be held at the Richmond Coliseum in Richmond, Va. on March 2-5.
Game dates and times are subject to change pending the league’s conference television schedule, which is expected to be released in October.
