Delaware Freshman Guard Jarvis Threatt Named CAA Men’s Basketball Co-Rookie of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. -- University of Delaware freshman guard Jarvis Threatt was named the Colonial Athletic Association Co-Rookie of the Week on Monday after helping the Blue Hens defeat UNCW and Georgia State last week as UD ran its winning streak to four games.
Threatt, a native of Richmond, Va. (Highland Springs HS), averaged 13.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists in Delaware’s pair of victories. He scored eight points, grabbed five rebounds and dished out four assists during Wednesday’s 71-53 win over UNCW.
Threatt then scored a team-high 19 points while adding eight rebounds in the 80-77 overtime triumph at Georgia State on Saturday. He also led the Blue Hens with six assists and three steals, and set UD freshman single game records by hitting 13 free throws in 15 attempts. Threatt drained two free throws with 32 seconds left in regulation to put the Blue Hens up a pair, and then scored Delaware’s final six points of the overtime period, all from the foul line.
Threatt currently ranks fifth on the Blue Hens with 8.1 points per game ,and ranks second on the team with 53 assists and 26 steals. He ranks 11th in the CAA with a 79.3 free throw percentage.
The CAA Rookie of the Week award was the second of the season for Threatt, who also earned the award on Jan. 23 following his 30-point game during the Blue Hens’ first victory over Georgia State. He shared league rookie honors with Damion Lee of Drexel, while Bradford Burgess of VCU was tabbed the league’s Player of the Week.
Threatt and the Blue Hens will look to extend their winning streak to five on Tuesday when they take on Hofstra at 7 p.m. at the Mack Sports Complex.
