RICHMOND, Va. -- University of Delaware freshman guard Jarvis Threatt has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week on Monday for the third consecutive week after helping the Blue Hens close the regular season with victories over Towson and Northeastern.
Threatt, a native of Richmond, Va. (Highland Springs HS), averaged 23.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.0 steals as Delaware extended its winning streak to eight games.
Threatt scored a game-high 29 points during Wednesday’s 76-69 victory over Towson, and broke his own UD freshman single game records by going 16 of 19 from the free throw line. He scored 17 of Delaware’s 23 points during a five-minute stretch late in the second half, went 6 of 11 from the field, grabbed five rebounds and made a game-high four steals.
Threatt then added 17 points during the Blue Hens’ 82-72 triumph over Northeastern on Saturday, going 5 of 7 from the field and 5 of 6 from the foul line.
Threatt has reached double figures in five consecutive games, averaging 19.8 points and going 54 of 62 (87.1%) from the charity stripe during that stretch. He ranks third on the Blue Hens with 9.8 points per game and has now earned four conference Rookie of the Week awards this season.
Kent Bazemore of Old Dominion and Mike Moore of Hofstra shared CAA Co-Player of the Week honors.
Threatt and the Blue Hens will be the fifth seed in this weekend’s CAA Tournament in Richmond, Va. and will face 12th-seeded Towson in Friday’s first round at 2:30 p.m.Back To Men's Basketball Home Men's Basketball Story Archive
