November 15, 2012
WILMINGTON, Del. -- University of Delaware men's basketball head coach Monté Ross is a partner with the 30th Annual Turkey Give-A-Way that will take place on Tuesday, November 20 and will benefit the families of New Castle County.
On Tuesday Nor Enterprises Inc.’s President Norman Oliver will host the event with a press conference beginning at 11 a.m. at 1213 B Street in Wilmington. This year’s Turkey Give-A-Way is in partnership with Canaan Baptist Church, Farnan Law Firm, the Newark High School Boys Basketball Team, the University of Delaware Men’s Basketball Team, and the Delaware Jefferson Awards Students In Action (SIA) program lead by the Charter School of Wilmington’s Jefferson Council. Other Jefferson Awards SIA teams participating are Alexis I DuPont High School, Newark High School, Salesianum School and Tower Hill School.
The Turkey Drive has helped thousands of families over the past 30 years with food for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, and this year the goal is to feed 2,000 residents throughout New Castle County, including families and seniors. Joining in this effort, as in years past, will be some of Delaware’s leading elected officials who will give of their time and generosity to assist in the distribution of the turkeys to senior centers and community centers throughout the county immediately following the press conference.
