Charlie Horn "Grinder" Award
The University of Delaware/Charlie Horn Grinder Award was established in 2007 to honor each season a Blue Hen golfer who best exemplifies desire, determination, and commitment to his game.
The award is presented by former Blue Hens standout golfer and contributor to the program Charlie Horn.
Charlie was a three-year letterwinner for head coach Scotty Duncan in 1971-75 and served as co-captain of the 1975 squad that placed second at the Eastern championships. Charlie held the Delaware career scoring average mark of 76.28 for over 30 years before the mark was broke following the 2007 season.
His season stroke averages of 76.00 in 1973-74 and 76.47 in 1974-75 still rank among the best in UD history.
In addition, he placed fourth individually at the 1975 East Coast Conference championship tournament.
The award is selected each spring by Delaware men's golf head coach Mike Keogh.
