MALVERN, Pa. -- Blue Hen senior Kevin McLister (at right) shot three under par for the tournament to earn medalist honors while the University of Delaware golf team also captured the team title this Sunday and Monday at the Wildcat Invitational hosted by Villanova.

McLister, who shot a course record five under par 66 during Sunday’s first round at the par 71, 7,009-yard course at White Manor Country Club, followed with a 73 on Monday to finish at three under par 139 and record a two-shot victory. McLister earned medalist honors for the third time in his Blue Hen career, as he also posted victories at the Scotty Duncan Invitational and Andrew Geyer Memorial Classic in the fall of 2009.

After a par and bogey on his first two holes of the day, McLister found his game by posting six pars and a birdie on the fifth hole to finish the front nine at even par 35. He fell to three over for the round through 13, but rebounded to birdie 15 and 17 to finish the back nine in 38, two over par.

Justin Martinson, who finished tied for sixth with a three-over par total of 74-71-145, tied for the lowest round by a Blue Hen on Monday by carding an even par 71. The senior recorded a very impressive front nine, notching birdies on the first, fifth, seventh and ninth holes while suffering just one bogey to reach the halfway mark at three under par. Martinson was still three under through 13, before bogeying three of the final five holes to finish at even par for the round.

Junior Stephen Scialo also shot even par on Monday, as he finished the tournament in eighth place by carding a four over par 75-71-146. Scialo birdied the first hole of his day, and following just one bogey to go with seven pars, finished the front nine at even par. After birdieing the 11th and bogeying the 12th, Scialo shot par the rest of the way to card 71 for the round.

Junior Greg Matthias followed his four over par on Sunday by improving by a stroke to finish Monday’s round with a three over par 74. Matthias finished the tournament tied for 13th place with a seven over par score of 75-74-149. He opened his final round by birdieing the first two holes, and following a pair of bogeys, fired four pars and a birdie on six to finish the front nine at one under par 34. He quickly moved to three under following a pair of birdies on 10 and 11, but recorded a double bogey on 13 before bogeying four of the final five holes.

Sophomore J.R. Fasy followed his 78 on Sunday with a 13 over par 84 on Monday to finish tied for 67th place with a 20 over par 78-84-162. UD freshman Dan Costenbader also competed in the tournament unattached, shooting a six over par 77 during his opening round and an 83 on Monday to place tied for 59th with an 18 over par 77-83-160.

Delaware, which also captured the Navy Fall Classic on September 11-12, earned its second team title of the season. The Blue Hens followed up Sunday’s 290 score by posting a 289 on the final day to finish at 579, edging Towson by two strokes. Villanova was the only other school in the 20-team field to break 600, as the host Wildcats placed third at 596.
