Martinson Tied For Individual Lead, Blue Hens Tied For Second Following Second Day of Rutherford Intercollegiate

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Blue Hen senior Justin Martinson is tied for the individual lead at one over par while the University of Delaware golf team sits in a tie for second place in the team standings on Saturday following the second day of the Rutherford Intercollegiate hosted by Penn State.
After Friday’s first round was halted due to rain, Martinson (at right) wrapped up his one under par 70 before firing a two over par 73 during his second round on the par 71, 7,202-yard PSU Blue Course to finish the day with a one over 70-73-143. Martinson will enter Sunday’s final round tied for first place with Penn State’s T.J. Howe, who also carded 70-73-143 on Saturday.
Senior Kevin McLister, coming off his victory at the Wildcat Invitational earlier this week, continued his impressive play and is tied for sixth place with a five over par 72-75-147. Freshman Corey Wagner followed up his opening round of 81 with a two over par 73 during the second, and currently is tied for 32nd place with a 12 over par score of 81-73-154.
Junior Greg Matthias, who fired a 14 over par 77-79-156, is tied for 47th place entering the final day, while classmate Stephen Scialo is tied for 60th place after carding 85-74-159, 17 over par.
The host Nittany Lions lead the 16-team field following two rounds with a 586 team score, while Delaware and Army are each tied for second at 595. Loyola (Md.) sits in fourth place at 599, while Towson rounds out the top five with a 600 team score.
The Rutherford Intercollegiate concludes Sunday with the third and final round beginning at 8:30 a.m.
