August 23, 2011
NEWARK, Del. -- University of Delaware men’s golf head coach Mike Keogh has announced that local high school standout Niño Rosal has joined the Blue Hen program and will begin competing for UD this fall.
Rosal, a native of Camden, Del., was a first team All-State selection this spring while competing at Caesar Rodney High School. Rosal, who finished second in the 2011 DIAA State Tournament, captured the Henlopen Conference individual titles during his final two seasons and was a three-time first team All-Conference selection.
A two-year team captain, Rosal led Caesar Rodney to an undefeated 2011 season and the top ranking in the state. The Riders went 62-2-1 during his four years while capturing the 2008, 2010 and 2011 Henlopen Conference team championships.
Rosal, an honor roll student, was the runner up in the 2010 Player of the Year rankings for the Junior PGA: Philly Section. He was a five-time winner with 10 top-10 finishes on the Junior PGA: Philly Section Tour, while he posted a pair of top-10 finishes in IJGT Tournaments during the 2010-11 year.
Rosal joins fellow incoming freshman Fraser Graham, as well as junior transfer Ben Conroy, as the three players joining the Blue Hens this fall. Delaware opens its fall season on Sept. 4-5 at the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate in Verona, N.Y.
