University of Delaware Men's Golf 2011 Fall Schedule

NEWARK, Del. -- The University of Delaware men’s golf team will play in six tournaments this fall as the Blue Hens’ 2011 fall schedule was announced by head coach Mike Keogh on Friday.

For the second consecutive year the Blue Hens will open their season at the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate on Sept. 4-5 at the Turning Stone Resort Golf Course in Verona, N.Y. The invitational is hosted by the University of Missouri, which advanced to the NCAA Regionals this spring.

A week later the Blue Hens will attempt to defend their 2010 title at the Navy Fall Classic, which will be held on Sept. 10-11 at the Navy Academy Course in Annapolis, Md. Following a week off, Delaware returns to action on Sept. 24-25 when the Blue Hens will compete in the Cornell Invitational at the Robert Trent Jones Course in Ithaca, N.Y.

UD then heads south to Williamsburg, Va., where UD will participate in the Joe Agee/William & Mary Invitational on Oct. 3-4 at the Colonial Heights Golf Club. The Blue Hens continue play on Oct. 14-15 at the Lincoln Mercury/Seton Hall Intercollegiate held at Fiddler’s Elbow Country Club in Basking Ridge, N.J.

Delaware wraps up its fall slate on Oct. 23-25 at the Old Dominion Outer Banks Collegiate Invitational, held at Kilmaric Country Club in Powells Point, N.C.

The Blue Hens will be led this season by senior co-captains Greg Matthias and Stephen Scialo, who each participated in all 12 tournaments for UD last season. Scialo ranked third on the squad with a 76.87 average round and tied for the team lead with an 11th place finish at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships, while Matthias was fourth on the Blue Hens with a 77.40 average round.
