Martinson Finishes Tied For Second Following Playoff At C&F Bank Intercollegiate; Blue Hens Seventh in Team Standings

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- University of Delaware senior Justin Martinson tied for first place in the individual standings before falling in a tiebreaker while the Blue Hens were seventh in the team standings at the two-day C&F Bank Intercollegiate hosted by William & Mary on Monday and Tuesday.
Martinson, who was looking for his seventh individual championship as a Blue Hen, followed his 68 on Monday with a one over par 73 on Tuesday on the par 72, 6,659-yard Woods Course at Kingsmill Resort. He finished tied for first place with Ryan Vince (71-70-141) and Chris Wellde (67-74-141) of James Madison, as the three CAA players each completed the two rounds at three under par.
The three players then tied through the first and ninth holes during the playoff before Vince prevailed back on the first hole to earn medalist honors.
Senior Kevin McLister followed his one under par 71 on Monday with a five over par 77 on Tuesday, finishing tied for 30th place with a four over par 71-77-148. Junior Stephen Scialo (at right) posted the low round of the day for the Blue Hens, firing an even par 72 to finish tied for 39th place with a five over par 77-72-149.
Junior Greg Matthias improved by three strokes from Monday’s round, carding a four over par 76 on Tuesday to finish with an 11 over par 79-76-155, tied for 71st place. Corey Wagner bettered his opening round by seven shots, shooting a three over par 75 on Tuesday to finish tied for 85th place with a 13 over par 82-75-157.
Delaware posted a 296 team score on Tuesday, moving up two spots to finish seventh in the 24-team field. James Madison captured the team title with a 572 score, while Radford was second at 580. USC Upstate placed third at 582, followed by UNC Greensboro at 585, Towson at 588, Central Connecticut at 589, and the Blue Hens.
Delaware returns to action on April 3-4 when the Blue Hens compete in the Villanova Wildcat Invitational in Malvern, Pa.
