Delaware Senior Greg Matthias Tied For 72nd Place After Second Day of NCAA Men’s Golf Ann Arbor Regional

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Delaware senior Greg Matthias carded a nine over par 80 during his round on Friday at the NCAA Men’s Golf Ann Arbor Regional and sits in a tie for 72nd place following the second day of the tournament.
Matthias, who fired a seven over par 78 on Thursday on the par 71, 6,723-yard University of Michigan Golf Course, is at 78-80-158, 16 over par, heading into Saturday’s final round.
Matthias opened Friday’s round with a par on the 10th hole, but a double bogey on 11 and a bogey on 13 moved him to three over for the day. He rebounded to par the next four holes, but a triple bogey on 18 dropped him to a six over 41 through the back nine.
Matthias then parred the first hole, and after a bogey on 2, recorded three consecutive pars. Following bogeys on 6 and 7, he closed his round with a pair of pars to finish the front nine at three over par 39.
Albin Choi of North Carolina State and Julien Brun of TCU are each seven under par through two rounds to lead the field, while four players are one shot back.
USC jumped into the lead in the 13-squad team standings with a two-day score of 561 while Oregon, Kent State and TCU are each just one shot behind.
The third and final round of the regional will begin Saturday at 7:30 a.m. Matthias will begin on the 10th tee at 9:10 a.m., and will be paired with Tyler Kuhn of Navy and Chad Ebert of Green Bay. The top five teams, along with the top individual not on those teams, will advance to the NCAA Championships.
