NEWARK, Del. -- University of Delaware men’s golf head coach Mike Keogh has announced that Blue Hen rising senior Ben Conroy has been named team captain for the 2012-13 season.
Conroy, a native of Durham, Conn. (Coginchaug Regional), recently completed his first season at Delaware after transferring from Coker College last summer. He appeared in all 12 tournaments for the Blue Hens, leading the squad with a 75.21 average round, the 11th lowest in a UD single season.
Conroy tied for the team lead with four top-10 finishes on the year, including a second place finish at the Navy Fall Classic that earned him Colonial Athletic Association Co-Men’s Golfer of the Week honors.
He also tied for sixth place at the George Washington Invitational, Villanova Wildcat Invitational, and Manor Intercollegiate, while posting the top finish by a Blue Hen at the Barnabas Health Intercollegiate and ODU Outer Banks Invitational.
Conroy also earned the Team Sportsmanship Award following the season.
