At Delaware: Third-year member of the squad • strong, physical player who will play a key role on the Delaware defense • expected to take over starting spot on defense with graduation of All-American Pat Dowling and starter Matt Stefurak.
2011 Season: Saw action for the Blue Hens in 17 games while starting one as a redshirt freshman • recorded 12 groundballs and seven caused turnovers • key backup on defense who also was used extensively on man-down situations • played key role as Delaware captured the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
2010 Season: Did not see game action and retained freshman eligibility • team captured the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
High School: Three-sport standout in lacrosse, football, and basketball at East Hampton High School • defender for three years in lacrosse • played guard in basketball for three seasons and led teams to three straight 20-win seasons and league titles in 2007, 2008, and 2009 • team also won two Long Island championships and was a state semifinalist his senior year • played linebacker and tailback in football for three seasons • earned all-league honors in basketball • earned all-division honors in football as a junior and was all-county and team Most Valuable Player as a senior in 2008 • honor roll student.
Personal: Jarred Giles Bowe ("bo") • born Aug. 29, 1991 • son of Daisy and the late Chet Bowe • English major with a minor in journalism at Delaware • took part in University promotional advertisement "Dare to Be" that was filmed in the spring, 2011 • would like to become a sports broadcaster or radio host • has worked as a plumber and as a camp counselor during the summers • enjoys playing basketball in his spare time • brother, Troy, played college basketball at the University of Hawaii • brother, Jonathan, ran track at Hampton University.
