2011 Season: Longstick midfielder who played a key role in Delaware's Colonial Athletic Association title and NCAA Tournament berth • played in all 18 games for the Blue Hens • recorded six goals and two assists • recorded 17 groundballs and six caused turnovers • scored two goals and picked up one groundball in first round NCAA Tournament game vs. Duke...contributed two caused turnovers vs. Marist • also scored a goal in Delaware's CAA semifinal win at Hofstra.
2010 Delaware: Proved to be one of the team's most improved players • played a key role in leading Delaware to the CAA Tournament title and an NCAA Tournament berth • played in 16 games for the Blue Hens and contributed three goals and three assists to lead all longsticks in scoring • scooped up 30 groundballs to rank eighth on team and was tied for third with 10 caused turnovers • enjoyed an outstanding post-season and was named to the CAA All-Tournament team • scored a goal, dished out two assists, and recorded four groundballs and two caused turnovers in CAA semifinal win over Drexel • scored a goal and added four groundballs in the NCAA Tournament vs. North Carolina • scored his first career goal vs. Hofsra at Big City Classic • also had four groundballs and three caused turnovers vs. Vermont and added three caused turnovers against Massachusetts and two vs. Hartford.
2009 Season: Played in five games as a freshman and earned letter • backup longstick midielder and defender • picked up one groundball on the season • saw action vs. Saint Joseph's, Albany, Georgetown, Brown, and Drexel.
High School: Played football and lacrosse at the Severn School in Severna Park, Md.• played defense in lacrosse for head coach John Twicker • earned second team All-County and honorable mention All-Metro honors as a senior • played cornerback and wide receiver in football • earned second team All-State honors while also earning All-County and All-Metro honors.
Personal: Taylor Mitchell Burns ª born Nov. 10, 1989...son of Tom and Joyce Burns...economics major at Delaware • served internship with DRS Technologies during the summer • would like to work in the real estate field after graduation • works as a lacrosse camp counselor and coach during the summer • enjoys snowboarding and wakeboarding in his spare time • one of four children • father, Tom, played college basketball at Bryant University in Rhode Island.
