At Delaware: Fourth-year team member for the Blue Hens • senior who will add depth to the Delaware defensive unit as longstick defender • has played in three career games.
2012 Season: Saw backup action in two games as a junior defensive midfielder • played in wins over Detroit and Mercer.
2011 Season: Saw action in one game for the Blue Hens against Presbyterian • recorded one groundball and two caused turnovers • member of team that captured the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
2010 Season: Did not see game action and retained freshman eligibility.
High School: Competed in lacrosse and football at Garden City High School and competed in lacrosse and basketball during his senior season at the Westminster (Conn.) School • led Garden City lacrosse team to records of 14-4 and 15-3 in his final two seasons and helped guide Westminster to a record of 9-7 in 2009 • played wide receiver in football and forward in basketball.
Personal: William "Billy" Durand ("duh-rand") • born Sept. 17, 1990 • son of Billy and Suzi Durand • finance major with a minor in economics at Delaware • works as a waiter and coach during the summer • enjoys golfing and surfing • oldest of four children in family • avid golfer and an avid New York Jets fan • comes from an athletic, lacrosse-oriented family • father is a stockbroker and a former lacrosse player at Delaware, who lettered in 1986 and led the Hens to the East Coast Conference team title • uncle, Rich Volpe, was a former UD lacrosse player and team captain in 1993 who led Blue Hens to conference titles in 1992 and 1993 • uncle, Brian Volpe, played the sport at Loyola.
