At Delaware: Junior who will battle for increased playing time as a third-year player • will team with redshirt freshman Charles Schreck at longstick midfield spot • has played in three career games • one of three Delaware natives on the squad • was featured as part of We Are Delaware documentary film produced by UD Athletics Multimedia this past summer.
2012 Season: Saw action in three games as a backup longstick midfielder for Delaware • played in games vs. Detroit, Towson, and Mercer • had a shot on goal vs. Towson.
2011 Season: Did not see game action for the Blue Hens.
High School: Competed in lacrosse and swimming at Caesar Rodney High School • four-year starter in lacrosse as a midfielder for head coach Drew Hughes • competed in the backstroke in swimming • three-time All-Henlopen Conference pick • earned All-State honors as a senior in 2010 when he also was selected as an All-American • four-time honor roll student.
Personal: Matthew Robert "Matt" Matsko • born May 29, 1992 • son of Rob and Becky Matsko • has an older sister and a younger brother • criminal justice major who aspires to become a Delaware State Trooper • both parents are graduates of the University of Delaware • has an uncle, aunt, and cousin who also attended Delaware • works as a lifeguard during the summer at Rehoboth Beach (Del.) • enjoys surfing and hunting during his spare time • father is a banker and mother is a nurse.
