Despite Weekend Setback, University of Delaware Men’s Lacrosse Squad Maintains Top 20 Rankings

BALTIMORE, Md. -- Despite having their three-game winning streak snapped Saturday night, the University of Delaware men’s lacrosse squad maintained its Top 20 rankings this week, earning a No. 19 spot in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Coaches poll and a No. 20 showing in the Nike/Inside Lacrosse poll.
The Blue Hens (7-3), who fell to Villanova by a 10-4 score on Saturday, fell two spots to No. 19 in the USILA poll and four spots to No. 20 in the Inside Lacrosse media ranking. Delaware has now been ranked in the USILA poll three straight weeks.
Delaware will look to return to winning ways on Tuesday when the Hens travel to Danbury, Conn. to take on Dartmouth in a non-league game at 1 p.m. at Western Connecticut State University. The Big Green will bring a record of 4-5 into the neutral site contest.
Undefeated Syracuse remained atop both polls, earning all 13 first place votes in the USILA poll and all 17 first place votes in the Inside Lacrosse rankings.
In the USILA poll, Syracuse was followed by Notre Dame, Johns Hopkins, Maryland, Cornell, Denver, Virginia, Hofstra, North Carolina, Duke, Villanova, Bucknell, Stony Brook, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Colgate, Army, Yale, Delaware, and Loyola. Drexel, Ohio State, Siena, Harvard, Penn State, Georgetown, and Brown also earned votes in the poll.
In the Nike/Inside Lacrosse rankings, Syracuse was followed by Notre Dame, Johns Hopkins, Maryland, Cornell, Virginia, Denver, Hofstra, Duke, North Carolina, Villanova, Bucknell, Stony Brook, Yale, Massachusetts, Colgate, Pennsylvania, Army, Loyola, and Delaware. Also receiving votes were Harvard, Ohio State, Georgetown, Siena, Hartford, and Drexel.
