RICHMOND, Va. -- University of Delaware freshman midfielder Dan Keane (at right), who helped lead the Blue Hens to a 19-4 victory over Presbyterian College Saturday afternoon, has been selected as the Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week for men’s lacrosse.
Keane, a psychology major from Elora, Ontario, scored two goals as the No. 17 Blue Hens improved to 2-0 for the sixth time in the last seven seasons with the dominating victory over Presbyterian at Delaware Stadium.
Delaware will continue action this Saturday as the Blue Hens host Marist at 1 p.m. at Delaware Stadium. Great season ticket packages are still available at www.bluehens.com/tickets or by calling 302-831-2257. Gameday tickets are available at the gate the day of the game and are $5 for adults, $3 for youth 17 and under and for seniors 60 and over, and free for UD students with valid identification.
Keane scored on his only two shots during the game, delivering his first career goal off a feed from Carter Bloor with 38 seconds remaining in the first half and adding his second score off a feed from Jackson Keeler with 4:46 remaining in the game. He also scooped up two groundballs and caused one turnover.
In addition to Keane, also honored by the CAA this week was Massachusetts defender Jake Smith, who was named CAA Player of the Week after scooping up three groundballs and forcing three turnovers in UMass’ 8-5 win over Army.
