University of Delaware Swimmers Dominate Non-Scoring Meet vs. William Jewell

LARGO, Fla. -- The University of Delaware men’s and women’s swimming teams closed out their annual December training trip to Florida with a dominating performance against William Jewell College Friday at the Southwest Swimming Complex.
The Blue Hens, who captured first place in all 10 relay events, also captured second place in eight of those races in the non-scoring dual meet. Delaware also placed third in six of the races.
On the women’s side, Delaware captured first place in the 200 medley relay (1:53.20), 150 butterfly relay (1:26.10), 150 backstroke relay (1:31.07), 150 breaststroke relay (1:40.70), and the 200 freestyle relay (1:48.05).
Calli Marando and Stephanie Dodd each had a part in winning relay events as Marando was among the winning 200 medley relay and 150 breaststroke teams and Dodd took part in the winning 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle events.
On the men’s side, Delaware won the 200 medley relay (1:42.13), 150 butterfly relay (1:15.65), 150 backstroke relay (1:16.57), 150 breaststroke relay (1:34.72), and the 200 freestyle relay (1:33.99).
Paul Gallagher, Matthew Marquez (at right), and Tim Ware each had a hand in two winning relay events. Gallagher teamed to win the 150 backstroke and 200 freestyle relay events while Marquez was a member of the 150 backstroke and 200 freestyle relay races and Ware won the 150 backstroke and 200 freestyle relay.
