Delaware Swimmers Pavlik, McLaughlin Post Second Place Finishes at the Terrapin Invitational

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - - Gearing up for the Colonial Athletic Association Championships in two weeks, Dominic Pavlik and Kyle McLaughlin represented the University of Delaware men’s swim team at the Terrapin Invitational at the University of Maryland on Friday and Saturday.
Even though they were the only two swimmers for the Blue Hens, they still made a splash while competing in three events apiece.
Pavlik (at right), a senior from Collegeville, Pa., had his best showing in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing in second with a personal season best time of 59.44 in the finals. He was seeded second after posting an even faster time in the prelim round, with a time of 59.21.
Not to be outdone by his teammate, McLaughlin, a sophomore from Warrington, Pa., also finished second while competing in the 100-yard freestyle with a career best 46.08 finals time. McLaughlin posted a team season best for the season with a low time of 1:40.92 in the 200-yard freestyle, placing fourth in the event.
To round out his weekend, McLaughlin posted another personal best in the 50-yard freestyle, finishing fourth with a time of 21.38. Pavlik had another top-five performance as well, ending the 200-yard breaststroke in a personal season low of 2:08.92. Finishing his weekend, the senior came in tenth in the 200-yard individual medley with a season best of 2:03.01. Coming into the finals, he was seeded seventh with an even faster time of 1:56.42 in the preliminaries.
The CAA Championships will be held at George Mason, starting on February 23. The weekend long event will conclude, crowning a team champion on February 26.
