NEWARK, Del. -- The University of Delaware swimming and diving coaching staff is conducting swimming lessons for children on Sunday evenings this winter beginning Jan. 13.
The 45-minute sessions are open to all children from three years old to the eighth grade and are designed for swimmers of various levels. The cost is $88 per child for the five sessions, which run from Jan. 13 until Feb. 17.
The sessions, which have a 5 to 1 student to teacher ratio, begin each evening at 5 p.m. and at 6 p.m.
Lessons will be geared to various levels, from Non-swimmers (no previous lessons and not comfortable in the water) to Beginners (comfortable in water but lacks arm and leg propulsion), Intermediate (uses arms and legs to swim but needs to add breathing pattern), and Advanced (can swim well but needs to learn new strokes and better technique).
Diving lessons will also be available for those children who are interested in an introduction to competitive diving or learning basic dives.
Every attempt will be made to accommodate all levels, but some classes may need to be combined for efficiency.
Please register at the University of Delaware’s Carpenter Sports Building Cashier’s Office located at 26 North College Avenue, Newark. Hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Registration forms are also available on-line at www.bluehens.com.
