Coonce, Chucta Lead University of Delaware Divers at Navy Invitational

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- University of Delaware junior Brian Coonce (at right) posted two top four finishes on the men’s side and Blue Hen junior Heather Chucta placed in the top six in two events to lead the UD diving efforts at the Navy Swimming & Diving Invitational Saturday at LeJeune Hall.
Delaware competed in only the one-meter and three-meter diving events as the Blue Hen swimmers were competing in a dual meet at William & Mary Saturday afternoon.
Coonce was the Hens’ top finisher on the day as he placed third out of 11 divers in the three-meter event with a score of 284.90 and added a fourth place showing out of 11 divers in the one-meter competition with a score of 263.80.
Also for the Delaware men, junior Seth Bergman was sixth in the one-meter (256.80) and seventh in the three-meter (219.30) while sophomore Nick Hoffman was seventh in the one-meter (219.50) and eighth in the three-meter (208.10). Ben Freedman of Navy won both events.
On the women’s side, Chucta led the way for Delaware with a fourth place finish in the one-meter (218.20) and a sixth place showing in the three-meter (209.0). Also for the Hens, freshman Schaefer Andrews was eighth in both the one-meter (202.10) and three-meter (171.15) competitions.
Katie Hetherington of Boston University captured first place in both events.
The Delaware divers will return to action Feb. 4 when they host the annual Delaware Diving Invitational at Rawstrom Natatorium.
