Roberts, 400 Medley Relay Team Post Top Five Finishes for Delaware at Day Three of CAA Championships

FAIRFAX Va. – Ryan Roberts (at right), Kristina Congdon, and the men’s 400 medley relay team posted top five finishes during day three of the 2013 Colonial Athletic Association Swimming & Diving Championships Friday night at George Mason’s Jim McKay Natatorium.
At the end of the third day of competition, UNCW leads the men's competition with 455.5 points followed by William & Mary (442.5) and George Mason (410). Delaware and Drexel are tied for fourth with 222 points with Towson ranking sixth (191).
Towson paces the women with 548.5 points followed by James Madison (539.5), William & Mary (332), UNCW (264), and Northeastern (209). Delaware sits sixth with 174 points with Drexel (151) and George Mason (141) rounding out the field.
The fourth and final day will get underway at 9 a.m. Saturday with preliminaries followed by the finals at 6 p.m.
Ryan Roberts tallied a pair of Top 5 finishes with a fifth-place showing in the 100 backstroke (48.70) and as part of the 400 medley relay team with Clayton Clemens, Cole Clark (bottom left) and Paul Gallagher (3:19.17).
Timothy West placed eighth in the 400 individual (48.59) while Tim Ware added a ninth place showing in the 100 backstroke (48.59). Alex Tooley completed the 400 individual medley at a time of 3:58.98 that placed him 10th in the finals.
Clark added a 12th place finish in the 100 butterfly (49.11), Paul Gallagher was 13th in the 100 backstroke (50.45), and Garrett Shresky place 15th in the 400 individual medley (4:04.06).-lg.jpg)
Congdon took fifth in the 1-meter diving competition with a score of 241.70. Fellow divers Kaitlin Stockwell and Lize Keefer scored points for the Hens with 13th and 16th place showings respectively.
The 400 medley relay team of Courtney Raw, Emily Pate, Kaitlin Wolla and Morgan Whyte produced the highest finish for the UD women’s swimming team on the day with a time of 3:49.83 for eighth place.
Hailey Farrell and Shea Solt were 13th and 14th in the 400 individual medley with times of 4:28.34 and 4:28.38. In the 200 freestyle, Lesley Payonk was produced a 15th place finish after a time of 1:53.56.
The 1,650 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly and 400 freestyle relay in addition to the men’s 3-meter diving competition will take place Saturday.
