2009-10 Season: Posted a second place finish at UMBC in the 200 breaststroke in the season's fourth best time of 2:12.27 • had the fourth best time in the 200 IM at UMBC touching the wall in fourth in 1:57.14 • finished fifth at UMBC in the 100 breaststroke in 1:01.04, the team's fifth best time of the season.
High School: Attended Catonsville High School and swam for the Catonsville YMCA • captured the district championship in 2008 and 2009 • finished as a national finalist during each of his last two years • set several team records at CATY and made the national team from 2005-09 • also competed in lacrosse and cross country at Catonsville.
Personal: Tyler Joseph Szarko • son of Michael and JoAnn Szarko • has three siblings, Sophie, Palmer, and Adam • his mother competed in field hockey at UMBC • honor student • majoring in engineering at Delaware with plans to open his own engineering company in the future.
