UD All-Time Top-10 Lists: 200-freestyle (5th, 1:40.82), 500-freestyle (4th, 4:37.25), 800-freestyle relay (2nd, 6:41.76). 2010-11 Season: One of the team's best distance freestyle swimmers, finishing with three all-time top-10 performances • had the team's top 1,650-yard freestyle time of the year, finishing ninth at the CAA Championships in 16:07.34 • posted the fourth fastest time in program history in the 500-yard freestyle in the prelims of the CAA's in a time of 4:37.25 • picked up the fifth fastest time in UD program history by placing 12th at the CAA's in the 200-yard freestyle event in 1:40.82 • helped the 800-yard freestyle relay team to a third place finish and the second fastest all-time time at the CAA's in 6:41.76 • finished with the second fastest time on the team in the 1,000 free, coming in third against La Salle and Rider in 9:52.72 • ended with two first place finishes (1,000 free against George Mason and 1,650 free at Towson), four seconds, and seven third place showings.
High School: Four-year letterwinner at Loyola Blakefield High School • MIAA conference champions in each of his four years • won the National Catholic Swimming Championship as a sophomore, junior and senior • placed second at the Eastern Swimming and Diving Championships in 2010 • named a captain as a senior • earned First Honors for grade point average.
Personal: Matthew "Matt" Thomas Marquez ("mar-kez") • son of Tom and Deb Marquez • was an intern at GMBC Hospital in Towson, Md. over the summer • both parents graduated from the University of Colorado • finance major at Delaware • avid NFL Denver Broncos fan.
